The Morrone Educational Program was agreed to at the New York and New Jersey Port Authority Memorial with his family's consent and input from the New York and New Jersey Port Police at the 9/11 Memorial in New York City on September 11, 2002, and established by the Board of the International Organization of Airport and Seaport Police [INTERPORTPOLICE].

In 2016 the INTERPORTPOLICE made the Morrone 9/11 Center it is own stand-alone charitable 501c3 nonprofit, as an official memorial to Fred V. Morrone, and to develop educational, best practices and various partnerships to advance those goals and carry on on the vision.

Morrone was the most senior public official and police officer to perish along with his 36 fellow officers in the World Trade Towers on September 11, 2001. He was our friend, our colleague, and our leader.  At the time of his death, he was the Executive Vice President and incoming Bpard President of the INTERPORTPOLICE.

We remember Fred as an innovator and forward-thinking person. We continue his vision to make the world a safer place.
